False Alarm of the Day: FBI Questions Saudi Student for Possession of a Pressure Cooker
Last Friday, the FBI surrounded the home of Saudi student Talal al Rouki after his neighbor tipped off the authorities that he has been seen around the residential area with a pressure cooker, a household kitchenware that recently made the headlines after it was used by the Boston Marathon terrorists to set their deadly bombs off in April. When questioned by the FBI, the frightened Michigan resident showed FBI agents the cooking apparatus, informing them he had used it to make the Saudi Arabian rice dish kabsah before taking it over to a friend’s house, to which they replied “You need to be more careful moving around with such things, Sir.” …Welcome to ‘Murica, Talal!

Comedian Dave Anthony: Gallagher Is The Saddest Comedian Alive
We interviewed Gallagher on our podcast about a week ago. It was a bizarre trip into the pysche of one of the saddest comedians I’ve ever encountered.
I expected him to be combative because, well, he’s always combative. The day before, he stood in front of the main theater at the Bridgetown…

Episode 011 with Jordan Morris, “The Friendship Business”
Jordan and I watch the one where the crew have to come up with a business for economics (we guess?) class, and the project quickly turns into a Friendship Forever vs. Buddy Bands turf war.

Comedian Dave Anthony: Set It Aside For A Minute, Media
I didn’t know about the Boston explosions until a minute ago. I was out running errands and wasn’t listening to the radio. Horrible stuff. Any explosions, of course, bring to mind 9/11 for anyone who lived through that awful time.
I went to the LA Times website to read what had happened. On the…

An official says Malala Yousufzai, who was shot by the Taliban for promoting girls’ education, has urged Pakistan to reverse a decision to rename a college in her honor to avert militant attacks on students. The 15-year-old who became a symbol of youth resistance to the Taliban made the request after students broke into the school, tore down Malala’s pictures and boycotted classes in her home town of Mingora. They say renaming the college endangers their lives.
Malala Yousufzai, Girl Shot By The Taliban, Asks Pakistan Not To Rename College For Her.
Did you read that, raging liberals of Pakistan and the West? Malala does not want the attention. She does not want to be a symbol. She does not want to lose her life because your obsession with symbolizing Muslim women into icons of resistance render damage to their very lives. If you genuinely care, try to understand the context and gravity of the situation.

And for God’s sake, stop reblogging that ridiculous comic strip that completely cartoonizes her.
(via spittingonhegel)
That comic has over 100,000 notes. This has less than 2,000 so far. Malala has been asking people to stop for awhile now. I guess respecting women is a bit too difficult when it’s easier to use them and their experiences to push your own narrative. (via mohandasgandhi)

Jacob’s Endless List of Favorite Disney Characters→ Robin Hood
I love this movie so much. My grandfather took me to see it in the theater on our first date.
Maybe my favorite thing ever. We had recorded of the World of Disney on blank tape. We had just gotten our first VCR and so I had this and Ghostbusters as a child. Then my dad taped Halloween off tv and used this tape. So the first half was all of Halloween and then Robin Hood. I had to fast forward past Halloween to get to my hero. I became a god damn man.
When I moved to California, it was hard for me to make friends because I had a speech impediment and a thick Oklahoma accent, this was my friend until I was able to surpass that challenge. I think it’s why I was able to surpass that challenge.
